7 yearsA bloke rang me earlier and wouldn’t say who he was or where he’d found my number. He spoke with a Midlands accent but tried to sound proper and official at first. When he began going on about security around my house, I cut him off straight away. Told him I wasn’t interested and hung up. I’ve blocked the number now. If your phone line is through BT, you can get in touch with them and ask to be put on their 1572 block list. It’s simple to do and really helps stop these annoying calls.Midlands7 yearsGot a call from someone named "Lee" who claimed he was handling an emergency alert system for my area, which only has a two-letter postcode. First, he asked for Mr X, then switched to Mrs X, but both of them have been gone for quite some time now. Then he used my full name and title. When I pressed him on where he got my details, he just said it came from some database provider - I'd be interested to know which one. I don't even live close to Stourbridge (see my comment from 5.8.19), so it all smells like a scam to me.LeeXStourbridge7 yearshaven't the faintest, we weren't home. seeing what others have said, i won't be ringing them back!7 yearsWas claiming to be from the Crime Investigation department. What a load of rubbish! She and my dad already had a visit scheduled to check out an emergency response system. They never asked for any bank info, just like how my parents weren’t asked. The bloke on the phone sounded nice, and the person who came to the house was quite friendly too.7 yearsJust like some other folks have mentioned, he claimed to be giving away free security alarms. Seems a bit dodgy, maybe he was a thief trying to scope out the place before attempting a break-in.7 yearsI rang my aunt claiming she had been selected for free advice, but when she asked to talk to a family member, he just hung up. Not sure where he got her number from. The number was 07895877889.7 yearsA bloke called Lee phoned asking for my hubby, claiming it had something to do with security. When I told him how was I meant to know it wasn’t a scam, he told me to search online to verify. I asked him why I'd bother googling while he was still on the line, and he got a bit grumpy, saying he'd call again later. I've since blocked the number.Lee7 yearsGot a call from 07895877889, some bloke calling himself Lee said it was from the police about a free emergency monitor.
