Got a call from someone called ‘Melvin’ claiming to be from ‘network services’ overseas, telling me they needed to cancel the insurance on my computer (I only have a laptop though). He tried to get me to log in and let him control my screen, which I refused - pretty sure that’s how they try to nick your bank info! I told him where to shove it and he ended the call. Be careful and don’t give them any access!

Got a call from someone saying they were the 'Life Insurance Review Team'. When I asked which company, they took a wild stab and said "Is it Aviva?". Nah, mate, not this time. Pretty obvious a scam or some sort of phishing attempt, so best to just ignore and block.

Was a bit confusing, bloke said he was with my life insurance firm’s review squad. Asked if I knew about some changes to the terms, and if I’d got anything on paper. Told him to email it over, since my insurer must have my contact. Then he just hung up!

Got a call from an Indian guy saying i wanted to get a loan, then he started giving my name and address like he knew it, telling me there was no hidden fees or interest. I was quite surprised, especially when he said id pay back about £90 a month with just £80 interest, sounded a bit fishy to me. Turns out, they rang twice earlier today but hung up both times. My son works in IT security and reckons they might be tracking your IP through the calls to get your details like address and postcode. Pretty unsettling stuff.

Got a call from a woman in South Africa claiming criminal investigations and saying it’s on their system that I owe debts. I’ve never heard anything dodgier, honestly steering clear of that lot completely.

Got a call from a pushy bloke with an Indian accent, chatting away on his mobile while I was out and about. Said he was with some credit check company and insisted I owed money, which obviously wasn’t true. He kept going on about a loan I supposedly applied for being rejected because of this debt, but couldn’t give me any proof. I’ve got no debts and never tried for a loan. Told him I’d be blocking his number straight away. Bit worried actually, since I recently reported some dodgy bank withdrawals to the Office of Fair Trading.

Asked how much I owed, which I told them a govt office would already know. Really pushy bloke. Took a few tries to shake him off, and having three noisy kids around definitely helped!

Received a call from some bloke claiming to be from a government agency, saying I supposedly owe some debt. I said if that’s true, send me an official letter to my address. He read out an old address that’s no longer mine, so I told him it was wrong. Then he mentioned my email, which was also outdated, and I corrected him again. Suddenly, he asked me to hold for 30 seconds to "trace my call" - I just laughed. When I asked what address he traced, he started swearing and hung up on me. Complete con artists.

Got a scam call tonight from a woman with a foreign accent, claiming I owed some money and she could sort it out for me. Said she’d stop the interest and knock off 60%. I humoured her for a moment, then told her I’m sick of these dodgy calls and called her out for being a scammer! Asked what she thought about that and, no shock, she just hung up. got a call tonight from someone claiming to be from barclays plc saying i’d agreed to some iva thing ive never signed up for. they started threatening me so i rang barclays proper and reported it all. dont pick up or believe them!

Just like everyone else, I keep getting loads of these calls and I haven’t signed up for anything. I’m pretty cautious with who gets my number, so it’s a mystery how they manage to ring me. Maybe we should all follow that one person’s advice and start legal action against them. Ofcom seems to just ignore this stuff.
