Definitely a total scam, watch out!

Had a call from some Asian number again, totally ignore it. If you wanna sort it, just text the number to 7726 and they should block it for you. Works pretty well to get rid of these annoying calls.

Don’t trust these scammers from overseas trying to blag your bank info. They’re lying about who they work for, no real company behind it. If you just hang up and ignore them, they can’t steal your cash. They keep their number hidden for a reason. Also, any call starting with +44 isn’t a proper landline, it’s probably some automated scam. Make sure you report anything dodgy on phishing.gov.uk or text DALL to 7726 to help stop them.

Got a call from some unknown number claiming 900 quid had been taken from my bank. They told me to "press one for help". I checked my account and there was nothing wrong at all. Obviously just a scam, so I blocked the number and reported them. Watch out for this kind of thing!

Got a call coming through on the internet, looked like it was from India or Pakistan. It was definitely a bank scam, so I blocked the number and reported it straight away. If you get a suspicious call, text the word 'call' to 7726.

I got a call saying it was Amazon checking if I ordered an iPhone, but I never placed any such order.

This old trick about getting 30% knocked off your O2 bill “forever” is such a dodgy scam. They pretend to transfer you to some supervisor - who’s actually just another bloke in the same call centre, probably in Mumbai or somewhere. Then they ask for a six digit code that O2 sends you by text, claiming they need it to get into your account. When you say the text says not to share that with anyone, even someone from O2, the scammer insists it’s fine just this once. Sure enough, if you hand over the code, they go ahead and order an expensive phone on your account, which gets sent to a PO box they control. Then you’re left dealing with the mess - absolutely awful.

Saw this number ring and decided not to pick up, ended up blocking it right after - turns out I made the right call.

Got a call from someone claiming they're from a phone company that's merging with mine. They said they needed my info to keep my service going. Complete rubbish. Total scam artists.

Beware, this lot are relentless! They’ve been phoning, texting, emailing, and even sending bogus letters non-stop. Blocking their numbers does nothing as they just ring from other lines. I’ve spoken to the police who recommended reporting everything to Action Fraud and raising awareness on social media because these sites alone aren’t enough to shield us from these fraudsters. The police suggested that anyone getting these calls or messages should create a post about it and encourage friends to share it widely so people stay alert. It’s the best way to fight back against these terrible criminals. Sad to say, the police told me they’ve managed to scam hundreds of thousands of pounds from folks just recently, so please help spread the word and stop this nonsense.

I’ve been wondering about this number from Vectone Mobile Ltd. They seem to be a business that deals in phone numbers, but mostly passes them on to scammers. Basically, they provide either mobile or landline numbers and then share a directory of numbers to target. So if someone calls you from a VoIP number linked to them, chances are you’re already on their calling list. It’s dodgy, to say the least.

If you want to cut down on all these scam calls and messages, the best thing you can do is report them! Whenever you get a dodgy email or nasty message, take a screenshot and send it to this address: '[email protected]'. For scammy texts, just forward them to '7726'. Be careful not to click any links in these messages as you might end up downloading malware. You can also text CALL to '7726' along with the phone number of the scammer, and your phone network will warn others about it. Definitely also complain to your local MP about this problem. If you gave away your bank info, ring your bank straight away, then report it to Action Fraud, forward to '7726', and share your experience on this website too. For more guidance, look up Action Fraud or check the police.uk website. And please, never ring back numbers you don’t recognise! - Anon 13
