Had another phone call today where the person immediately asked me to verify my name, which I always avoid doing. When I pressed for who they were, she claimed I was owed a refund of over £2900 on my mortgage. That seemed a bit weird since she hadn’t even confirmed she had the right person. I guess the next step would’ve been for her to ask for my bank details. Usually, I respond with something like "Thanks, I’ll get in touch with my mortgage company directly" or "Fine, just send me a cheque." Of course, the moment you don’t follow their script, they just cut the call straight away.
