1 monthJUST A QUICK UPDATE - FYI - This number actually belongs to a legitimate third-party company that works with LLOYDS BANK on possible fraud issues. I discovered this after my card was frozen by LLOYDS once I got a text from this number. Before calling back, I searched here and thought I should share what I found out from LLOYDS fraud department today. They verified that the number is genuine. So, cheers to everyone keeping an eye out, but this time, the negative guesses are off the mark.LLOYDS BANKLLOYDS1 monthI got a call claiming to be from Lloyds Bank, but it seemed dodgy to me. I reckon the call came via some prepaid mobile top-up site like https://topup-mobile[.]co/en/top-up/544. These folks are scammers, they pop up as number one on Google when searching for mobile top ups and sneakily sign you up for a £49 monthly fee. Luckily, when I rang the genuine Lloyds Bank, they confirmed no money had been taken from my account. Watch out for these scammers, I think they might be operating from Nicosia or somewhere abroad. Avoid them at all costs!Lloyds BankGoogleNicosia3 monthsI got a text about some fake transaction and they said it was stopped, asking me to choose yes or no. I tapped NO, then got a call that was marked as a possible SCAM, so I didn’t pick up. They left a voicemail telling me to ring the Halifax Fraud Prevention team on 03330459600. Rather than calling that number straight away, I used the official Halifax number instead. They confirmed the call was legit and that the number I was given was correct. Just be cautious and don’t jump to think it’s a SCAM right away - always check by calling the number on your card, that’s the safest bet.Halifax Fraud PreventionHalifax5 monthsGot a message from a Halifax number saying they wanted to confirm a recent purchase I supposedly made. The scary part was, they already had my card info along with the transaction details. Then they told me to just reply ‘yes’ to the text, and shortly after, my phone, which is linked to Halifax, got some automated calls. When I checked my Halifax account, I saw a weird phone number listed that definitely wasn’t mine, so I deleted it straight away.Halifax11 monthsGot a call from Lloyds Bank about a card ending in 'xxxx', checking if I made a payment on 24-08-2025 at some hotel booking site. They mentioned something about "MOTO" in the transaction, which matched the amount I was supposed to pay. Before this, I got a warning text from 'Lloyds Bank' saying they'd send me a message, but it was odd because they said they'd NEVER ask me to reply 'Yes' or ask for my details either by phone or text. Bit confusing, to be honest!Lloyds Bank1 yearGot a call from someone acting like they were from Lloyds Bank. Sounded proper dodgy and kept asking loads of personal stuff. Told them straight I wasn’t giving out info to strangers. Definitely a scam in my book. Beware if you get a call like that!Lloyds Bank1 yearThey messaged me claiming I owed a sum I never spent, and somehow even mentioned the last four numbers of my card. Quite suspicious if you ask me.1 yearGot a call from someone pretending to be from Halifax saying there was an issue with my account. They tried to get me to give them a 6 digit code but I knew better. Halifax never asks for that info on the phone, looks like a credit card scam to me. Watch out for this trick!Halifax2 yearsGot a call from someone claiming to be Halifax bank, total scam!Halifax Bank2 yearsSomeone tried to scam me using my credit card info.2 yearsGot a text saying my credit card payment hadn’t gone through and asking me to verify it was me. Thing is, I was actually doing the payment on my laptop, not a mobile. They even put some of my payment details in the message. Supposedly, if I confirmed it was me, I could try paying again. But when I checked, the payment had already been processed on my credit card account. Just a heads up, payments aren’t usually 'debited from' credit card accounts, they’re added to the balance instead.2 yearsThey rang me up and right away wanted my bank info, bit dodgy if you ask me.2 yearsGot a dodgy text saying something about my Halifax credit card, but I don’t even have one! Definitely a scam trying to catch people out.Halifax3 yearsGot a message from this number saying my credit card will get blocked if I don't reply. I'm off to ring my bank just to be safe.Submit Your Own Report (07883 318431)
