3 yearsReceived a dodgy text, definitely a scam.3 yearsHave a look at the blue-rated comment from 04/01/23 and maybe five posts underneath it. It's so important not to dismiss any calls claiming to be from your bank. There's no way to be totally sure if the person on the phone is legit or just con artists wanting to drain your account. The safest bet is to ring your bank back on the number shown on the card itself. These scammers have been known to fake all sorts of bank phone numbers, so you can’t trust the caller ID alone. Always better to be safe than sorry!3 yearsJust got a call from someone claiming to be from Halifax about a fraud check. Sounded legit at first, but wasn’t too sure if it was real or not. Anyone else had this happen? Seems dodgy to me.Halifax3 yearsNo doubt about it, this number is a total SCAM!!! Avoid it at all costs!3 yearsI received a dodgy text that pretended to be from MBNA. Definitely felt like a scam!MBNA3 yearsTypical Lloyds bank scam, nothing new really.Lloyds Bank3 yearsGot a call saying it was from Halifax Bank about my credit card ending in my digits being used at Next Directory for £114.95. They said the payment got declined and told me to ring back. I’m sure if I had, they would have just taken money from my account without me knowing.Halifax BankNext Directory4 yearsMake sure you ring your bank using the phone number printed on the back of your card before giving out any info. Banks often reach out from several different phone numbers, and scammers are known to fake these quite a bit. If you reckon the call is dodgy, definitely report it to Action Fraud as a phishing scam. There’s more info about this on this page dated 02/12.Action Fraud4 yearsThis whole thing screams scam to me.4 yearsSomeone claiming to be from Bank of Scotland rang me, and they somehow already had the last four digits of my credit card and even the amount I’d just paid. Bit creepy if you ask me.Bank of Scotland4 yearsGot a text saying it was from MBNA about a £15 payment being held. It was meant for my O2 pay and go, supposedly at 04:42. The message warned that if I didn’t reply yes or no to confirm, future payments would be declined. Thing is, right before that, I got another message in my MBNA chat telling me to watch out for this fake text - probably to make it seem legit. Bit suspicious if you ask me.MBNA4 years26th November 2022: Echoing what others have pointed out regarding Halifax and Apple... I’ve chosen to disregard it altogether.HalifaxApple4 yearsI’ve responded affirmatively. Do you think I should just leave it now?4 yearsGot a call supposedly from Halifax saying my online payment didn't go through, gave the exact amount and everything. They mentioned if I didn't respond, future payments would be cancelled. Thing is, the retailer actually took the payment without any problems. Still, it’s creepy how they seemed to have all those details.Halifax4 yearsThe initial message was purportedly from MBNA, and shortly after, I received a follow-up text from the number listed above, inquiring whether I could verify some transactions in Italy by responding with either 'yes' or 'no'.MBNAItaly4 yearsThey claimed to be from Lloyds Bank which freaked me out, but what really got me was how they knew the exact sum I sent through PayPal and even who I paid.Lloyds Bank4 yearsGot a text claiming to be from Halifax, said I needed to reply or they'd block any future payments. Bit suspect if you ask me.Halifax4 yearsI’ve received two messages lately, the first one from Bank of Scotland saying, "You should soon get a text from us to verify some recent transactions on your card ending XXXX." Then, I got another text from this number stating, "Just a heads up, you must respond; otherwise, we’ll prevent any future payments on your card. Bank Of Scotland has flagged that your credit card ending XXXX was attempted for a purchase at GOOGLE Google Play App on 22-09-2022 at 23:11:06 for £59.99, but that payment didn’t go through. If you made this transaction, please reply with YES; if not, then reply with NO."Bank of ScotlandBank Of ScotlandGOOGLEYESNO4 yearsI recently got a text message purporting to be from Lloyds Bank, seeking confirmation for a payment I supposedly made the previous day by replying with YES or NO. It's clear this isn't legitimate, but they did have some specific information about my card and phone, which is rather unsettling.Lloyds BankYESNO4 yearsI received a message from MBNA regarding a transaction I don't recognise. They've requested that I reply to the text, or my card might be suspended. However, upon checking my MBNA account directly, I found no unusual transactions at all. Definitely a dodgy scam trying to catch you out. Be careful with these sorts of calls.Lloyds Bank4 yearsI recently received a rather dubious message claiming to be from Lloyds Bank. As a customer of theirs, I must admit, it was rather easy to be swayed by the deception if I'd not been vigilant. The communication urged me to verify my identity by providing my banking information under the guise of addressing some alleged fraudulent transactions on my credit card. Fortunately, I took the precaution of ringing the standard Lloyds hotline, and they assured me it was all a ruse.Lloyds BankLloyds4 yearsI got a couple of texts this morning - the first one came from BOS, letting me know that I should expect a message from Lloyds Bank. It was meant to confirm something I’d done recently with my credit card, and they mentioned the last four digits, just to keep things secure. The second message was a bit concerning; it explained that there’d been an attempt to use my card online for a certain amount but thankfully the bank had turned it down. They wanted me to text back with either a 'YES' if it was indeed me making that purchase, or 'NO' if it wasn’t. The message mentioned that there was no need to ring up the bank, saying that replying to the text would be the quickest method to sort out my account details.BOSLloyds Bank4 yearsReceived a message that seemed to be from my bank, but it’s clearly a scam-definitely not a legitimate bank number.4 yearsOn the 3rd of March, 2022, I received a text claiming to be from Halifax Bank, stating that there was an unsuccessful attempt to process a payment from my credit card to something called DINKY DI INVSTMNT PL. The message prompted me to reply to confirm whether I had initiated that payment.
