I received a call today from a "withheld number" from an outfit claiming to be the "Energy Savings Trust," which they said was linked to a government initiative regarding a new replacement for the Feed-In Tariff. The pleasant-sounding young lady peppered me with lots of questions about my wife and me, presumably to determine our eligibility for their scheme, but then abruptly disconnected the call, assuring me that her manager would ring me back shortly. True to her word, I got another call from 07880369906-this one wasn’t withheld at all. The manager proceeded to read off a lengthy spiel aimed at persuading me to sign up for something. When I mentioned that we already had solar panels installed, she abruptly stated that she could offer no assistance. I took the opportunity to remind her that we are registered with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS), to which she shockingly replied that the government has an exemption from TPS rules, thus claiming her call was entirely above board.
