Got a call from someone saying they were from HMRC, telling me I had a court order because I hadn’t paid my tax. They said bailiffs would be at my door within 48 hours to seize my belongings if I didn’t pay up straight away. Weirdly, they didn’t actually know my name, so I told them I was John Smith from Gallifrey Close and worked at the BBC as the doctor. The person on the phone then said “Dr Smith, you can settle this now by giving me your bank details.” Obviously, I hung up immediately. Classic scam.
