Got a call from someone claiming to be Amazon, saying they needed info to verify an order for an expensive phone. I told them I hadn't bought anything, and even if I did, I hadn’t paid for it yet. When I suggested it sounded like a scam, they quickly asked if I wanted to cancel the order. I told them if they really were from Amazon, they should email me or call my landline instead. No reply so far. Pretty obvious scam to me. Then I got a suspicious text with a weird link and a code. Blocked the number straight away. Really dodgy stuff.

I got a call from this number claiming to be Arther Dennis Gray from HM Revenue & Customs. They left an automated voicemail saying I needed to ring a special hotline at 0114 7006425 and warned me not to ignore it. They said if I or my solicitor didn’t respond, I’d face legal troubles. The message finished off with a cheerful “goodbye and take care!” which was a bit odd given the threat.
