Someone named Mcfarlane rang me from this number saying I owed £7,500 and if I didn't pay, I'd face serious trouble. He gave me a phone number and a reference to call and sort out payment. Oddly, a form filled out in pen was left at my door. HMRC always sends letters properly, and I've got a reliable accountant looking after my affairs. Quite a well-planned scam, but total nonsense. Best to steer clear of it.

So this bloke turned up, claiming to be from HMRC and handed me a letter. I didn’t say a word or share any personal info. Honestly, I’d recommend snapping a photo of anyone like that and sharing it online to warn others about scammers.

Just got a missed call from 07876 392364, someone said they were from HMRC, maybe Mrs Simon? She mentioned my IT company’s name and sounded like a proper older lady. Pretty convincing really.
