Terrible AI voice using a posh UK accent, and the script was just rubbish, totally unbelievable. If someone rings claiming to be from the "bank fraud team" but doesn’t say which bank, you know straight away it’s dodgy! I got two calls from almost the same number. They both mentioned the exact same amounts supposedly spent and said the same things about what the money was used for! The bit where they tell you which button to press was all garbled and unclear, so maybe they didn’t get the response they wanted - even so, I wasn’t about to find out!

I’m 75 and hadn’t slept for three days straight. Just as I finally dropped off proper like, around 12:15pm the phone downstairs started ringing. Got a call today from a cheerful lady asking how I was, then she claimed to be calling from BT. I told her to buzz off with some choice words, and she just cut the line.

I was out when they rang, so I used 1471 to check the caller ID. No message was left. The same mobile number seems linked to loads of scams. Honestly, it’s baffling the authorities haven’t shut this down yet. You’d think they’d have better tech to catch these scammers by now.
