4 yearsThis afternoon, I got a call from a woman claiming to be my account manager for some so-called lifetime plumbing insurance company. She said I owed £250 today as the last payment on this supposed plumbing cover. According to her, I’d already paid two £250 instalments via direct debit over the past couple of years, and this was the final one. She even recited my bank details, warning me that if I didn’t pay up now, there’d be a cancellation fee. Honestly, I’m no mug. I keep a close eye on my payments and direct debits, and checked my bank - no such direct debit exists. I’ll be keeping an eye on that for the coming weeks just in case they try to sneak something in. I told her to jog on and slammed the phone down.
