She insisted that I needed to fork out £250 today for what she described as my final instalment for household plumbing insurance. According to her, I had already made two payments of £250 by direct debit over the past two years, and this was to be the concluding payment. She even had the nerve to quote my bank details and threatened me with a cancellation fee if I didn’t pay today. Now, I may not be a financial novice, but I know exactly what I have in my accounts and the direct debits I’m subscribed to. I double-checked my bank transactions and found no record of such a direct debit. Rest assured, I’ll keep a close watch over my account in the coming weeks to ensure no sneaky payments show up without my permission.
