Got a call today from this number. It was an automated message claiming a £xxxx payment was made on my Visa for some train journey from St Pancras, then told me to press 1 to contact their card security team. Thing is, I don't even own a Visa card.

This number rings me like 2 or 3 times every week. One call usually warns me about some supposed bank fraud, and another one claims I bought a train ticket from East Midlands. Last week, I actually pressed option 2 to chat with someone, just to tell them I’m onto their scam. The bloke then asked why I pressed option 2 if I knew it was a con. I told him it was to get my number off their list, and that I wasn’t giving out any of my info. He then ranted some proper rude stuff at me which I won’t repeat here. Lovely behaviour!

I just ended the call, but honestly, it was quite unsettling.

I reckon using a whistle to scare off scammers is a clever thought, but honestly they might just do the same back to you. Probably safer to just text the info about any dodgy calls to 7726, like the police say on their Action Fraud phishing page. Sometimes they’ll get back to you asking for you to say it again. I’d have a proper look at that police site for all the best advice on what to do.

Apparently, this was unusual because I’d never used the card for anything like that. She asked me to press 1 or 2 to verify or speak to someone about cancelling the transaction. A few days back, I got a call from this number with a woman who spoke with an English accent telling me that someone had booked a train ticket from St Pancras to Edinburgh on my account. I flagged it here already. Now, the same number rang me once more, but this time it was a man, also sounding English, who said he was from Visa Security and claimed there’d been a £900 international debit on my card or something like that! Clearly, this number is being utilised heavily for scams, so why is Telesign Mobile Limited not taking it down?

Like many others have mentioned, this number seems to be connected with some kind of Visa card scam. Definitely be careful if you get a call from it.

Like a few folks here mentioned, this is a total scam. They tell you that you’ve purchased train tickets and to press 1 if you want to cancel. Don’t hit any buttons, as they’re just trying to get your bank info to steal from you.
