3 yearsThis number first sent me a message claiming to be my mum with a new phone number. Afterwards, they switched to WhatsApp and asked for money to cover a bill. I decided to humour them for a while to see what would happen next. They said they’d be kicked out of their home without the payment, and gave me bank details to transfer £2,731.73. When I asked for their name, they ignored the question. Obviously, it wasn’t my mum since she passed away in 2021.
