For the past couple of weeks, whenever I hit '1' to check my voicemail, this number pops up instead. The first time, I ended up speaking to a woman with a British accent who happily told me I’d called my local Co-op store. I said sorry and hung up straight away. But since then, every time I try to get my voicemail and see that (scammer’s) number, I hang up right away. I’m curious about what their angle is, since they can’t really get any money info from my voicemails. Also, does anyone know how to get my voicemail back for good? Would really appreciate any advice!

This number belongs to Anthony Gordon Jarrett, who also goes by Anthony Jones and Andrew Jones. From what I’ve read online, he’s a dodgy builder with a history of scamming elderly folks and has been in jail several times for it. If you get a call from him, I’d suggest contacting the police as he’s probably up to no good again.

It appeared a couple of times on my phone bill, but I couldn’t find it in my call history. Then I realised I’d rang voicemail twice around the same time. That said, I suppose scammers might have used the number, but in my case, it was definitely legit.

I just signed up with plusnet and got a call from this number. At first, I didn’t recognise it but it turns out it’s the official plusnet voicemail service letting you know you’ve got a message. I rang back and it was definitely my voicemail. That said, I get why some folks think it’s a scam, cos the voicemail could contain dodgy info. So yeah, the number itself is genuine, but be careful about the content of any message you get from it.

Can someone explain why a scammer who’s after cash would act like that when I answered? Screaming like that with others around?
