I received a rather drawn-out phone call informing me that a voicemail had been left for me. Curious to find out who had called, I rang 1471, only to discover that it was my own number that appeared. It seems we've inadvertently covered the cost of that call ourselves. When I called 1571, I was met with a rather chilly recorded message from the same number. It's rather frustrating; sending a text is far more economical than making a phone call, yet they’ve made it cleverer by charging us just to find out we have a message waiting.

I recently received a rather drawn-out telephone call just to inform me that someone had left a voicemail. Out of curiosity, I called 1471 to find out who had phoned and, to my surprise, my own number appeared - suggesting I’ve inadvertently funded that call myself. Then, I tried 1571, only to be greeted by a brief beep rather than any useful information, and I discovered that texting was a far cheaper option than the traditional ringing. It seems these companies are getting quite clever, as they require us to fork out just to know we have a message waiting. Quite the cheek, if you ask me!

I received a rather dodgy text message that contained a so-called 'joke' of a racist nature. Quite frankly, it was incredibly unwelcome and left a bad taste in my mouth.
