The message was actually real, about an order I made with a clothing brand. I guess because loads of folks have had bad experiences, this number must be one shared by quite a few companies for different reasons - and some scammers might have got hold of it. But for me, it was totally genuine.

I got a rather peculiar message stating: "Your Prescription is Ready for Collection from St. Helens Hospital Pharmacy Dispensary (01744-646068) 'PLEASE COLLECT YOUR PRESCRIPTION WITHIN 7 DAYS'." The number indeed belonged to the pharmacy, which confirmed they had a prescription from the eye clinic. However, upon contacting the eye clinic directly, they claimed to know nothing about it and suggested I simply disregard the text. The whole scenario seems quite baffling, especially since they had my name and date of birth-definitely raises some eyebrows! The fact that the pharmacy connected me to the eye clinic adds another layer of confusion. I’ve decided to block the number now; it just doesn’t sit right with me!

I've received a couple of dodgy texts about tax refunds from this number-one back in September 2017 and another just now in January 2019. It's baffling how these fraudsters are still at it after all this time! Seems like the regulators are rather ineffective, or perhaps it's futile since these crooks would only switch to a new number anyway. Best practice is to steer clear of any messages like this. If HMRC really needs to contact you, they'll send a letter through the post, not a random text.

Back in September 2017 and again just now in January 2019, I've gotten messages saying they're from gov.uk saying I should get a tax refund. The one in 2017 included a link but I obviously didn’t click it. Today’s message didn’t even have a link (seriously, how daft are these scammers?). Got a message saying I’m owed a tax refund. It looked proper official and quite convincing.

Said they were from HSBC, saying my account had some security locks put on it. Asked me to tap a link. Definitely not HSBC, cause their real name wouldn’t just be a weird number. Didn’t touch the link at all - obvious scam. Blocked the number and got rid of the message. DO NOT CLICK THAT LINK!

Got a dodgy text pretending to be from HSBC about some account restrictions. It’s a pretty obvious phishing scam trying to trick you. Don’t click any links in it! Just forward the entire message to ‘7726’ along with the sender’s number. Stay safe!
