Got a text just like someone else mentioned here, saying it takes three weeks to sort out a passport and to click a certain link... total scam, reported it already!

Got a text saying my passport was about to run out and I should click a link to renew it right away. Didn’t trust it and didn’t click anything. The passport office wouldn’t randomly text loads of people like that. Watch out folks, don’t fall for it - it’s clearly a scam.

Got a text claiming to be from the passport office saying it takes around 3 weeks to process a passport and if mine's expiring soon, I can renew it online at a link they gave: https://www[.]gov[.]uk/renewpassportonline. Seems legit-ish, but wasn’t expecting to get a text like that from them so it felt a bit off!

Got a text at around 11:04 saying it normally takes about three weeks to get a passport, and if yours is expiring soon, you can renew it straight away - with a link attached. Just a heads up though, "His Majesty’s Passport Office (HMPO) doesn’t usually send any automatic texts or emails reminding you about passport expiry or renewal." The legit place to renew online is https://www[.]gov[.]uk/apply-renew-passport[.] This message is definitely dodgy - don’t click that link!
