Got a text from someone saying they were a solicitor asking if I’d been in a car accident and had my car written off anytime in the last 10 years. I decided to check by going straight to the company’s official website to see if it’s real. Still waiting to hear back, but I’m pretty sure it’s a bit dodgy and probably a scam.

Got a call on my home phone and then my mobile asking if I’d approve a £1.99 charge just by saying yes or no. Next thing I know, about £43 vanished from my bank. Rang the bank straight away and found out it was some dodgy foreign firm targeting vulnerable people’s accounts. Thought I was too cautious to fall for something like this, but clearly not. Totally a scam, I got caught out this time.

Got a text pretending to be from Lloyds Bank, but the number switched to +44 7860 028660 in the second message, which makes you think they’re saved in your contacts! The message said you’d soon get a text from Lloyds Bank to verify card activity on your card ending ####. Then the text showed: Lloyds Bank spotted your debit card ending •••• being used on 11-08-2020 at 20:17:43 at DELIVEROO[###] for £17.98. It asked if this was you, to reply YES, if not, reply NO. They said no need to phone, just reply to update your account quickly. Definitely felt a bit dodgy to me.

They say they are Lloyds bank but it’s obviously a hoax. The messages come from a mobile number and the spelling and grammar are all over the place.

I had a simillar thing happen to me, got a text about some Just Eat payment confirmation. I said no, then a few mins later they rang me to get a reply. Had me waiting on hold, but I thought, banks dont usually call me like that, so I ended the call. Later I looked at my online banking just to be sure, no transactions appeared. But then I noticed a pending charge for about £1.30 for some London parking? Problem is, I don’t even live in London!

MY BANK SAID IT WAS PROBABLY THEM WHO SENT THE TEXT SINCE IT WAS ONLY ASKING ABOUT A PAYMENT AND DIDN'T REQUEST ANY OTHER DETAILS. THE GUY COULD EVEN SEE OTHER MESSAGES LIKE IT ON HIS PHONE SCREEN.

Looks like this number belongs to Lloyds Bank fraud team coz they texted me about some unusual activity on my online account and I noticed a payment I didn’t recognise. Bit confusing tho, cause it’s not their usual contact and doesn’t match the numbers others mentioned here. Best to be careful and ring a number you know is legit before sharing any personal details.
