Loads of people reckon this number is linked to Lloyd’s or Halifax, but even if that’s true, I’m with neither of those banks so I wouldn’t expect them to ring me. I got a message from this number saying, ‘Hey, are you smashing it at work today?#’ Haven’t replied so far. My advice is to just leave it alone and if you get calls or texts from this number, always ring your bank yourself to check it’s legit!

This is an actual Lloyds Bank Group number, but be careful, don’t just trust it blindly. At the same time, don’t dismiss it either. The post from 27/02/21 explains exactly the steps to take if your bank gets in touch. Scammers have faked all sorts of bank phone numbers now, so it's impossible to know for sure if it's a fraudster ringing or a real issue with your account that needs urgent action.

Halifax says on their website that you shouldn’t reply to unknown numbers by call or text. Anyone who says they replied or called back and were told the number is legit, well this number definitely isn’t! These folks might be scammers too. If I get a text from Halifax, it clearly says Halifax! They always say if the transaction was yours then just ignore it, but if it wasn’t then call Halifax straight away - they don’t ask you to reply with yes or no.

I got a text asking me to confirm a payment at Lloyds. I said no. Now Im trying to stop the pending transaction cos I think it’s a scam.

I tried to pay something online but it got declined. Then, I got a text from Lloyds saying I'd get another message soon to confirm the payment. A bit later, this number sent me a text with the payment info and asked me to reply Y or N to confirm it was me. I replied Y, waited about 10 minutes like it said, and after that, the payment went through fine.

Seems like it was someone from Bank Of Scotland about a payment I supposedly made online; they wanted me to verify if it was me or not. They also called me again later on.

I got a strange text in the middle of the night from a number I didn't know, saying there was unusual activity on my Halifax debit card and they included the last four digits. What made me suspicious was the message telling me not to ring the bank but just reply YES or NO to the text. I rang Halifax straight away and they confirmed there were fraud attempts on my card at places like ASDA and ADIDAS. They've cancelled my card now and are sending me a new one. Turns out the message was legit after all.

Got a text saying it was from Lloyds, so I popped into the bank and they sorted me with a new card. But then a few days later, I got the exact same message again - pretty sure it’s some kind of scam.

Got a text from 07860 028482 saying I'd receive another message about a payment from a different number. Then I got a text from 03330 459560 saying a payment to Google Play Store was declined. I thought it was a bit fishy after checking a few websites, but some people said it was legit. So I rang Lloyds using the number on the back of my card, and they confirmed they'd stopped a payment and the texts were genuine. If you're unsure, always call your bank using the official number on your card or their website. Luckily, they've cancelled my card and sent a replacement already.

We attempted to buy something online and the card got declined (probably because we put in incorrect info). Then we phoned Lloyds Bank who told us it was from their anti-fraud team and to just reply YES and then try the payment again after 10 minutes. We followed that advice and everything worked perfectly. If you're unsure, it's best to contact your bank before replying to these messages.

got a text saying my bank had some weird transaction. looked at my account and loads of money was gone. i freaked out trying to get the bank’s number but just replied ‘no’ to that message. then called the bank’s 24hr fraud team and they said they never contacted me. came here and saw it’s just some scam trying to steal info. it’s awful how they don’t care who they hurt! seriously, do not reply and double check your accounts - they might have already taken money like they did to me.

i got a text from halifax after i tried to make a payment but it got declined. i got an sms from the number i normally get from halifax when doing payment authorisations, saying id get another message soon. once i got the next sms, i replied yes - it mentioned stuff like where i tried making the payment, the amount, and the last 4 digits of my card. when i looked again the number i replied to seemed like a normal mobile. i checked the number on here and it said it was risky. but i rang the bank and they told me its legit and not a scam.

Just got a message from this number pretending to be Halifax. They had the last 4 digits of my card and said £89 was taken out, asking me to confirm with a yes or no. I texted back yes, thinking the money would be taken. I called Halifax immediately because it felt really sketchy. They checked my account and said nothing for £89 was showing. They told me it’s a scam for sure, don’t respond or engage with the text. Seriously, block the number, report it, and warn others! Don’t reply, it’s a trap!

Just got a message from this number a couple of minutes after using my debit card in a store. The text asked if I’d just used my card there and the amount I spent. It told me to reply with y or n to confirm if it was me. I rang my bank straight away and they said not to reply as they had no knowledge of the message.
