I thought it was a scam at first, but turns out it wasn't. I got a message from the typical bank number I get alerts from about low funds, saying they'd also sent a fraud warning from 07860020323. I looked up the bank’s official fraud team number on their site and gave them a ring straight away. Apparently, someone had made three attempts to use my card at Argos and actually managed to buy something for almost £300.

Sounds dodgy to me. It mentions payments to Argos, some went through and others didn’t, plus something about Camberwell post office. I’m defo going to alert my bank about it.

Got a couple of texts recently - first one claiming to be from Nat West asking me to check some recent debit card transactions and providing this mobile number. Then, the same number sent another message listing the transactions: a couple of small purchases making sense with Amazon, but then a massive £3988.11 charge to some company called Creventic. Pretty sneaky, but a dead giveaway as I’ve never banked with Nat West at all. Total scam, no doubt.

Got a ring from this number saying there was a transaction on my card with British Airways. I don’t remember spending anything with them, and the amount sounded dodgy. They said they’d blocked my card already. Not sure if it’s a scam or if I should bother replying. Anyone else had this?

I got a message claiming to be from NatWest saying I’d get info about some sales made at a nearby supermarket where I normally shop. Then, I got another message from a different mobile number that quoted the NatWest number, showing three purchases, but the card number definitely wasn’t mine. I didn’t reply but rang NatWest’s fraud team to check. They said they hadn’t blocked any cards or sent me anything like that. It’s a total scam. They told me not to reply and just delete the texts. I only contacted them via their official website, never used the number from the suspicious messages!

Got a message from RBS saying there was a problem with my account transactions and I needed to check them. Got a text from RBS, the number I usually get my weekly balance updates from, so I figured it was legit. The message warned me about a follow-up text, and when I replied with just a "Y," they sent a confirmation back from the same familiar RBS number. Definitely seemed like one of their anti-fraud checks.

So, my missus got a couple of texts supposedly from NatWest, but looking at other reviews, people seem divided about this number. The dodgy transactions listed were for £0.00, one from the US and two from the UK. That’s odd, right? Who’d bother making a payment for zero quid? Seems fishy to me.

Got a message from this number asking about some recent charges on my NatWest card. It’s proper annoying if this really is NatWest, cos trying to check is a nightmare - you can barely get through to a real person there to confirm if it’s legit or a con. Loads of websites list this number as dodgy, and honestly, no one should be giving out card details over text to a random number. NatWest really needs to stop using mysterious mobile numbers for verifying account stuff - it’s just not right.

I got a message outta nowhere from Natwest first, then this number followed up with the details of my last three card spends, asking me to reply if everything looked right. I rang Natwest straight away cos I was a bit suspicious. They told me it’s genuine and part of some new anti-fraud thing they’re doing. They even helped me unlock my card afterwards.

Got a couple of messages tonight myself. The first looked like it was from NatWest, warning me I'd get another message soon to check some recent payments. Sure enough, not long after, that second message arrived from this number, listing three payments, one from America, and asking if I wanted to reply Y or N. Then about twenty minutes later, my mobile rang, and just a bit after that my landline too. I just hung up on the calls and deleted the messages straight away.

My wife got two texts about our shared Ulster Bank (RBS) account, which was a bit strange. One text showed three "recent transactions," and one was from the States, which didn’t sit right with me. I don’t think her number is even linked to our account, so I found it fishy. Then, an automated call came through and sounded really convincing. Honestly, if I’d got all this on my phone, I reckon I might’ve been tricked. Seems like a pretty smart scam to me.
