MBNA legit warning. Someone trying to use my card fraudulently.

Legit. Got a text on New Year's Eve. I called back on New Year's Day and they answered straight away, like within half a minute! Apparently, there was a hold on a £600 payment but they'd already taken more than £200.

The last 4 digits of the card mentioned in the message from this number dont match up at all, so I wouldn’t trust this text claiming to be from MBNA. It’s best if you ring MBNA directly using the number on their official website just to check if this message is actually from them before you reply.

Looked like a legit warning from MBNA about some dodgy activity on my card. They mentioned they’d frozen it. I’ll ring them back using the number on my card to get it sorted properly.

Just got a message from this number asking if I'd made a payment. It was for a card I haven't used in ages, and when I checked my online account, there were charges I definitely didn't put through. I called MBNA using the phone number on their website, and they told me it was legit and they're sorting out the fraudulent activity now.

This number turned out to be from MBNA when I looked it up. Bit frustrating since it was just under £300 for a UK site, but I guess something must've triggered a flag for them to question the purchase. I did give them my credit card's last 4 digits, the amount, and the shop, so now that I think about it, I probably shouldve trusted it. Still, better to be careful than regret later.

Got a genuine call from MBNA regarding suspicious activity on my card - someone tried to buy petrol in Brazil! MBNA said they’ll cancel my current card and send a replacement. Luckily, I’m not liable for the fraud charge.

Got a text from MBNA on this number (07860010999) about a strange charge on my credit card that they had blocked. I rang MBNA using the number on my card to check, and it was legit. They cancelled my card and sent me a new one. MBNA are looking into the dodgy transaction but luckily, I didn’t lose any money.

Got a text from Chelsea FC (MBNA) saying there was suspicious activity on my card, they gave the last 4 digits, the transaction amount and who it was going to. It said the payment was on hold until I confirmed. Since all the info seemed spot on, I replied YES and got an instant reply saying the payment would go through. Looks like it's legit, but I’m still gonna get in touch with MBNA just to be safe.

Got a text from Virgin Atlantic Credit Card. They asked if I made a purchase that got declined just now, was at a shop I recognise. The sale was like 5 mins ago, and the store name looked spot on, so probably legit.

This message came from Virgin Atlantic Credit Card (MNBA) and it’s legit. At first, I thought it was dodgy because they asked me to reply YES or NO. The 4 digit number they showed didn’t match any of my current cards. I logged into my account online and saw my cards had been frozen. That’s when I figured it might actually be genuine. Turns out it was real - the 4 digits belonged to a card I had about 3 years ago, and some idiot in California was trying to make an $8 charge. When you reply, they ring you pretty quickly and help you get replacement cards sorted within a week.

Got a text from this number saying there was a suspicious transaction on my account linked to an old card that I cancelled ages ago, over a year back. I phoned the number on the back of my card just to be sure, and it turned out to be a genuine alert about my account. All my cards have now been cancelled and I’ve ordered replacements. If you’re unsure, always use the number on your card to check.

I received a message saying it was from Virgin Credit Card warning me about a dodgy transaction on my card. I rang the free number on the back of my card to check. Turns out, the message was real, and someone over in the States (I'm based in the UK) had tried to use an old card of mine to buy something small.

Does anyone know if MNBA has a text service to verify credit card fraud?

It’s uncanny, but I’ve had the same experience, and I can assure you it’s the real deal. My account is linked to Virgin Money as well.
