Got a text from someone claiming to be victim support then got a call from this number saying they were from HRMC - when I asked why they called, they just ended the call straight away. The voices sounded Indian. I’ve reported it to HRMC and the fraud team.

Looks like the number 07860-001078 isn’t active anymore. I just rang it and got a message saying: “THE NUMBER YOU HAVE DIALLED IS NOT RECOGNISED. PLEASE VERIFY THE NUMBER.” So yeah, it’s definitely not in use now! Hope this info helps others.

This number claims to be from a charity named Victim Support. I’m not sure why they would be ringing me as I haven’t been involved in any crime recently. I remember getting loads of calls like this about three years back.

I checked victim support’s official website and couldn’t find either number anywhere. After seeing other folks mention similar calls here, I figured I’d put these numbers up so others are warned too.

Got scammed a few days ago and after I told the police about it, I received a text from this number. It was asking me to check out some suspicious website, so I just deleted the message straight away.

But the real number for Action Fraud is actually 0300 123 2040. If this was genuine, they’d mention your unique reference from the fraud squad, which they never did. Honestly, sending texts like that? Sounds a bit careless if you ask me. Don’t fall for it - it’s not the real deal.

After I got a message from this number, I tried ringing London Victim Support and they said they’d sent a text around that time but couldn’t really verify the number itself. I’d already got in touch with 101 to report a fraud and requested some help, so I wasn’t totally surprised to hear from them.
