I just received a message on my phone saying I’m owed a tax refund from 2018. It directed me to a sketchy website, something like https://tax.refund-ref5322[###]. If HMRC owed me money, they’d either send a letter or direct me to an official gov.uk site. This felt really dodgy. Out of curiosity, I visited the site, but none of the extra links like feedback, cookies, or Welsh language actually worked. If it was legit, those links would function. Seems like they copied parts of the gov.uk layout to trick folks into handing over personal info. Be careful out there!
