Got a call from a 3G Hutchison mobile number, they left a voicemail saying that £900 had been taken out of my debit/visa card. They asked me to press a button to sort it out. Don't fall for it, it's a total scam.

Quick update as of 2nd June: the calls are back again, unfortunately. Just a heads up - don’t bother calling this number back. It’s a private line that’s been spoofed, meaning someone else is using it to hide their real identity when they make calls.

Just wanted to give an update as of 31 May - the calls have quietened down a bit now. Looks like this number has been spoofed again, with scammers using my number to hide their real caller ID. If you see a missed call from this number, please don’t ring back. Really sorry to anyone who’s been hassled by these annoying calls.

Just a heads up to everyone, avoid picking up if you see this number calling. It’s actually my personal mobile that scammers have cloned, so the calls aren’t really from me - they’re using my number to pretend it’s them calling. If you can, please report any info you have to Action Fraud with the reference NFRC230505949604. Don’t ring back or reply to texts from this number, as your messages won’t reach the original caller but end up with me instead.

I got a call from 07859075799 and could hear a call centre buzzing in the background. A bloke with an Indian accent said he was calling from Unit Choice, but didn’t bother explaining anything else. He acted like I was meant to know who they were and tried to ask me three questions. I told him straight up I don’t give out info on the phone. He tried to convince me it would only take ten seconds to answer, but I just said no once more and he ended the call. Pretty sure it’s another scam.

To be clear, my number is a private one but these scammers are ‘spoofing’ it to make it look like they’re calling from me. Never ring back a number you don't recognise. Scammers create loads of fake UK landline and mobile numbers using computers, and sometimes these match real people's numbers. Also, it might be a wangiri scam, so best not to risk it.

Quick update for everyone: as of Monday 15th May 2023, the calls have finally stopped. Seems like the issue got sorted out. Apologies to anyone who received calls from this number - it’s actually a personal mobile that got ‘spoofed’ and isn’t connected to the company behind those calls.

Just to clear things up, this number was faked and isn’t linked to the firm that was supposedly ringing you.

Just a heads up, this is my own mobile number and somehow it’s been spoofed. I’ve been getting loads of calls back from missed calls since early this morning (Friday 12 May 23). It’s now nearly 9pm and thankfully the caller volume has really died down (only a handful in the past hour compared to the usual crazy 60 or so). Fingers crossed this issue’s finally sorted itself out.

I wasn’t sure if it was a real person or some smart robot on the phone. They said they were from an energy firm and that they’d found my info in some database. When I told them I wasn’t interested in their survey and asked them to delete my details as per GDPR rules, they just hung up. Best to steer clear of these calls!

Hey, I own this number but it's been spoofed, so the calls you're getting aren’t actually from me. Someone else is showing my number on their caller ID. I've already told EE and the ICO about it. Really sorry if this has caused any hassle.
