Got a call from a number starting with 07, and the voice on the other end had a really obvious American accent claiming to be from HMRC. It was one of those automated messages that threatened legal action and told me to press 1 to talk to an officer. I knew straight away it was dodgy because HMRC only use 0300 numbers or sometimes private numbers, never 07. Plus, I’d just checked my tax the other day and there’s nothing owed, so this has to be a scam. Best not to answer or press anything if you get one of these calls.
