On 1st February 2022, I got a recorded call on my mobile. When I answered and said ‘hello’, there was a strange pause, then another brief silence when I repeated ‘hello’ - which felt off right away. The message claimed to be from Amazon about an order costing £79.99. Problem is, I haven’t bought anything from Amazon recently, and none of my past orders near that amount, even including shipping and VAT. They then told me to press a number to talk to an Amazon Customer Service agent. But from my experience, Amazon doesn’t get in touch like this. They usually send messages through their website’s portal, which you only see after logging into your verified account properly. Honestly, this felt like a scam to me. I’d advise anyone getting a similar call to avoid pressing any menu options or trying to speak to whoever picks up. It’s best not to engage.
