I recently received a telephone call from an alleged representative of 'The B&B Directory', a legitimate establishment based in Wells, Somerset. The chap on the line sounded incredibly convincing and managed to persuade us to disclose our card information, claiming our listing on their website required urgent renewal. The number he rang from was: 07849153883. Upon doing a bit of sleuthing, we discovered that our advertisement wasn’t up for renewal for quite a while yet. We promptly contacted the actual B&B Directory, and they informed us that numerous others had reported similar scams and urged us to notify our bank. Our bank confirmed that a withdrawal had been processed almost immediately after that dodgy call. They acted swiftly to block our card. Please, take heed: do not hand over your card details to anyone claiming to represent a company over the phone. It could save you from a significant headache!
