+44 7848 840350. My elderly mum phoned me all worried about a text she got claiming to be from HSBC, asking her to confirm a payment to someone called C Jones. It said if it wasn’t her she needed to get in touch with them or her money might be taken. I told her not to reply or click anything, especially after checking info here. Sadly, she’s stuck at home due to isolation so I can’t pop over to sort it out in person.

Got a message supposedly from HSBC saying there’s a new payee added under the name MR C JONES on my account. The text asked me to click a link if I didn’t recognise it. I didn’t press the link though. I’ve already told my bank about it, reported it to Action Fraud, and then, as they suggested, emailed all the info to the NFIBPhishing site run by City of London police.

Like a few others mentioned, this was definitely a scam. They claimed it was about a Mr C Jones being added as a new payee to an hsbc account. Weird thing is, i got the call on my work mobile and i don't even have an hsbc bank account! I’ve just blocked the number now. Seriously, don't waste your time clicking any links or calling back.

just got a call from +44 7307076034, and it’s kinda worrying. i ended up clicking on a link they sent, which took me to some login page but then it just crashed on me. i quickly logged straight into my actual bank site to be safe. i’m ringing up hsbc now to let them know what’s going on. will keep an eye on it and share if anything weird happens. watch out everyone!

Heads up, don’t trust texts from 07848 840 350 saying something like “hsbc: new payee request for mr c jones added via your hsbc mobile banking app”. It tells you to check your account but if you didn’t do it, go straight to some “lisecurty hsbc” link to verify the payee - total scam. I’ve already flagged it and blocked that number. The funny thing is, I don’t even use HSBC or have their app, plus I never do any banking through apps at all. So yeah, just ignore and be careful!
