Got a call from a robotic voice claiming to be HMRC, but strangely it had an American accent! Total scam alert. Looks like this number is trying a new trick compared to a couple years back.

Got a voicemail claiming to be from HMRC saying there was an issue with something I’d applied for, and asking me to press 1 to talk to someone. Weirdly, I had just done an application on .gov.uk, so being curious, I pressed 1. But there was no answer, just silence on the line. Fingers crossed they haven’t hacked into my phone or anything dodgy like that.
