Some bloke called himself James Numan, but when we messaged him, his replies began to sound like they were written by a bot or something. He wanted us to give him £200 as a deposit before we could even meet the puppies. We brought up the pet welfare rule we'd seen on FreeAds that day, which clearly says you should meet the pups before handing over any money. Instead of being understanding, he turned really defensive and started being quite unpleasant. He’s selling Shih Tzu puppies on that FreeAds app, but something about it didn't feel right.

Just came across it again on freeads, some Shih Tzu pup for sale. I asked about it and got this number, we just exchanged messages and I never sent any cash. Then suddenly the ad switched to another dog, felt a bit sus if you ask me.

I was looking into buying a Shih Tzu puppy from a free ads site. Some bloke from Scotland said I had to put down a £180 deposit, then pay the rest when I picked him up. I wasn’t about to pay anything without seeing the puppy first. He kept pestering me with messages and even sent bank details that didn’t match the name on his profile. When I searched the name he gave for the payment, it showed up right here on this site. Honestly, don’t fall for this guy.

Got taken for a ride on freeads, really wish I'd come across this site to check numbers earlier. It’s the same old trick - they post a name and number on freeads, then the number rings you up trying to con you. The address they gave was a fake one in Darlington. The guy on the phone claimed to be Dylan Mazzoncini, said he was Scottish! On freeads, the name linked was Nikki Ogilvie, selling Yorkshire Terriers.

I spotted this bloke advertising on freeads again, even though I reported two of his ads last month. His most recent one was for a shih tzu pup in Preston with the number 07704719260. When I called to ask about the puppy, I instantly knew his voice - it’s a Scottish accent. What really put me off was how rude and abusive he got on the phone. Proper unpleasant guy!

Today I got totally conned by this dodgy bloke who looked like he was off his head. I handed over £150 as a deposit for a Shih Tzu pup from a Freeads listing, but it turned out the address he gave me in Stockport, Manchester was fake. On Freeads, the seller’s name was Sarah Lafferty, but the bank account for the puppy breeding business was under some Bethany Bowers. It’s crazy how these scumbags are still running this scam even a year after it was first reported. Wish I’d found this site before I sent the money. Learned the hard way, that’s for sure.

I almost got caught up in a scam about a Westie puppy, but luckily I checked these reviews first before handing over any cash. It really makes you realise how many dodgy people are out there trying to take advantage!

I came across an ad for a Shih Tzu puppy but the name on the advert didn't match up. I paid a £250 deposit, then got a message saying it was actually £350. That made me feel a bit iffy, so I went to check out the address they gave me. Turns out, it was completely made up. I got in touch with my bank and managed to get my deposit refunded. Just a heads up - watch out for this kind of scam!

Someone using this number is selling puppies on Freeads, claiming they're Shih Tzus, but wants a £200 deposit upfront before letting you see the pups. I've already reported it to Freeads, but the person gets really rude in messages if you say you won’t pay beforehand. I’m thinking about reporting him to action fraud soon because this kind of scam should not be able to carry on. It’s just not right!

I’ve fallen victim to a scam today, 4th March 2024. Someone using the names Nikki McMurdo and Norman Cassidy contacted me, claiming to sell a West Highland Terrier pup. They managed to swindle me out of a £250 deposit, claiming to be located in Alexandria, Scotland. When I refused to cough up more cash, they resorted to threats about the police. I’ve got their bank info and plan to investigate further. They’ve mentioned a refund, but I’m not holding my breath. I’ll definitely be pursuing this matter!

Fraud alert! Beware!

I handed over a £700 deposit to someone claiming to be "Frank" for some Westie pups, and after that, he went completely silent on me, ignoring all my calls and texts.

I’m sharing this to spare others the heartbreak I’ve endured. I was hoping these little ones would fill the void left by my beloved dog, who passed away last November.

It's utterly despicable.

I’ve also reported this to my bank.

Some jerk just ripped me off for £700, can’t believe it. I’m on the phone with my bank now, hoping they can sort it out. I was trying to replace my Westie who recently passed away. Seriously, I’m shattered.

I had the misfortune of dealing with a con artist who goes by the name of Iain Cantwell, purportedly selling Shih Tzu puppies. Initially, he requested a £200 deposit, but then suddenly upped it to £300. To make matters worse, he then demanded an additional £87 for a microchip and £56 for the first vaccination. In the end, I've been swindled out of £300, and now he’s gone completely silent, ignoring my calls and WhatsApp messages. Please, steer clear of this absolute charlatan; he is nothing but a two-bit fraudster!

Got scammed by some bloke saying he was selling Shih Tzu pups in Paisley, Renfrewshire - goes by Robbie Kerr. The red flag for me was when the bank details he gave were under Ryan Starthearn’s name, not his. Ended up paying £200 to reserve a female puppy and now I’m not sure if I’ll ever see that money again. Proper annoyed about the whole thing.

Almost went ahead and bought a dog before I looked up the number here. The phone number seemed off, so I decided to check and luckily I found some warnings. I ended up blocking the caller and avoided a lot of trouble. Bit frustrating that these things happen even on supposedly safe sites like FreeAds.

Just a heads up regarding a certain individual by the name of Amy Pursley - she’s definitely up to no good. I've managed to get hold of her banking information too. Stay vigilant!

Be careful, it’s a scam. They were putting up ads for shih tzu puppies and asked me for a deposit, then suddenly wanted the full amount. They post on a legit site called Freeads but send bogus puppy videos through WhatsApp. The name in the ad listed Blackpool, but the payment had to go to some completely different name. I got done over and felt so annoyed! When I asked for my deposit back, the person was really nasty about it. Don't fall for it like I did!

The caller said his name was Tiffany Hunter, though he got really aggressive when I questioned him. I looked up the number he gave me and it wasn’t the same as the one on Freeads. When he asked about the #### and breed, I told him to check the original message again. He said he'd ring me back. I’d already told him he’s reported as a scammer on that site though. I’ve reported everything to the Fraud Squad and now an officer is coming over because of the nasty texts.

So this lady, Tiffany Hunter, turned out to be really rude when I questioned her a bit. I looked up the mobile number she gave, and it wasn’t the same as the one on Freeads. When I asked about the #### and breed, I told her to check the message again. She said she’d ring me back. Thing is, I’d already told her that she’s flagged as a scammer on the site. I’ve reported everything to the fraud team and now an officer is coming round because of the nasty messages.

If you're considering getting a puppy this way, honestly, you kinda deserve to get ripped off. Even if by some miracle you actually get a pup (which is pretty rare), chances are the poor thing’s been taken from its mum way too soon, probably bred in some dodgy puppy mill where they churn out pups non stop until the dog’s no good then just dump it. The little critter is likely unhealthy and neglected. Best bet is to only go with a reputable breeder, someone you can visit and see the mum and pups happily playing in a normal home, not some shady setup.

Watch out! This is a total scam! There are ads from Arthur Shinnie & Lauren Lynch claiming they’re selling puppies, but it’s all a con.
