Someone posed as my son and tried to solicit money under the guise of being him. Quite a perilous con artist, if you ask me. They sent me a message claiming their phone had been ruined by water and needed urgent funds. I've already alerted the authorities about this number!

Got the exact same message earlier, checked with my son and he said it wasn’t him. Pretty sure it’s a scam.

Got a message from this number out of the blue saying something like, “Mum, my phone got water damaged so I’m using this temporary number. Please save it and reply x”. I’m pretty sure it’s dodgy! I haven’t replied as I’ve got no kids, but I know a mate who got caught out by this kind of trick recently. She replied thinking it was her son, and then they asked her for money. She ended up sending some before realising it was a scam. Watch out for these sorts of texts, they can be really convincing.
