Got a text from this number claiming to be my son, saying he’s got a new phone and this is the number to use now. Later, they asked if I could send some money to cover the phone cost, even gave bank details to transfer it to. They said they couldn’t call properly because of bad signal and that the seller was waiting on the cash urgently. Seems like a classic scam, and Action Fraud says loads of people are falling for this trick to get cash by lying. Stay alert, folks!

A message popped up on my elderly relative's phone from this number, where the sender was impersonating me. It wasn't just a one-off, mind you; we’re talking multiple messages exchanged, so it wasn't a case of a dialed mishap. When I tried calling back, I was met with a robotic voice from Giff Gaff saying, "You've reached the voicemail of Giff Gaff; please leave a message..." and so forth.
