Got a call from a bloke with a sort of Asian accent, who wanted me to verify an old address even though he got my name right. He said I’d won £500 worth of vouchers from Barclays and they’d post them to my home if I did a quick survey about my insurance. Claimed he wasn’t after any money at all. Felt like a classic scam to me. Told him I’m pretty suspicious and didn’t really want any vouchers. He sounded quite polite, so I ended the call politely too.

Got a call tonight from a bloke who sounded Asian. He kept interrupting me while I was talking. Claimed to be from some claim outfit in Manchester. Said I was owed PPI tax of more than £3,000. He told me a courier would be sending a cheque to my house. Oddly, he used my old address. Asked him to send the info by email but never got anything. Feels like a scam to me. Really worrying!

Got a call six times in a day from a guy claiming to be from the credit card fraud team, sounded like he was Asian or something. I kept him on the line for about twenty minutes just chatting nonsense, then I told him he’s being recorded for the Durham police fraud investigation unit. He got proper angry then said I didn’t have his number, which I read out to him, then started calling me names. When I said I was still recording, he just hung up. I really enjoy messing about with these scammers!

He wanted to know my age, but I didn’t give it out. I thought I’d mess with him a bit by giving fake details. I’ll wait and see what happens. I rented this flat and I know the landlord, so if the cheque turns up I’ve got someone to collect it for me.

Got a call from someone claiming to be part of a Credit Checking Agency, turns out they were from India and totally fake.
