Got a call from someone claiming to be the ‘National Crime Agency’, telling me my National Insurance number would be blocked unless I paid a fee. Trying to be sensible, I hit 1 to talk to an advisor. The guy seemed really eager to get my card details, but he first wanted to know all about this supposed rash I’d developed from the stress of the call. I had to ask him three times if he was actually in the UK, and he said yes each time. Then when I asked for a department contact number, he just ended the call. Bit suspicious now if you ask me.
