Got a call at the church office from someone saying they lived in Harefield. They said the council told them to ring us because they urgently needed money. I told them that since we’re a charity, any donations have to be properly authorised and recorded, so I’d need their info or someone could arrange to meet them. They refused to give any details and hung up. We’ve had a few similar calls from different numbers, all claiming that places like the council or local hospital sent them for urgent financial help, but none of them want to share info or meet face to face.
