I experienced something quite similar-the caller insisted that I either pick up the card or have it sent to me by 1pm the following day. As soon as I mentioned I didn’t hold an account with the bank they referred to, they abruptly terminated the call.

I received a rather unpleasant phone call earlier, where a bloke was insisting he needed to pop round to my place tomorrow to deliver my ‘new Visa Debit Card’. A bit of a dodgy proposition, if you ask me! When I started probing him about it, he claimed it was for the card I use for all my shopping and bills. Truth be told, I hardly ever rely on a debit card for those sorts of things, and neither of my cards - be it personal or our joint account - are anywhere near renewal time. Not to mention my husband's cards are all good too. When I pressed him for the name of the bank he was representing, he tossed out two names that have absolutely no link to one another. I said I’d just take a moment to look into it, but by the time I returned, he'd already cut the line. How typical!

I received a rather dodgy phone call that mirrored the earlier accounts posted here. The caller informed me that I could either pick up a new visa debit card from my bank or have it dispatched via Royal Mail by 1pm the following day. They mentioned three different banks, each entirely unconnected. I raised an eyebrow, given that replacement cards are rarely handled in such a manner. He insisted that they were replacing hundreds, all with an expiry date set for 2029. My instincts were set off, and he proceeded to tell me that a way to verify a bank call's authenticity was to ask for the first number on the visa card-then had the cheek to request that I fetch mine for him to check. After I informed him that I held no debit card with any of the aforementioned banks, nor did I want one, he abruptly ended the call!
