It began with a message saying "Hi Mum, I’ve got a new number, my phone broke today. Save it and get back to me." After that, my WhatsApp blew up with messages like “Can you hear me?” and “The mic isn’t picking up” plus “I tried to ring you.” They then asked me to “try calling me.” I ended up ringing all three of my kids, and they all said their phones were fine 🤦‍♀️ Total scam alert! Be careful out there.
