Got three messages from 07828563699. First one was on 5th Sep at 10am saying, "Hi, this is Virgin Media reminding you that on 8th Dec 2023 your home phone will be switched to our fibre network. We’ll post you an adaptor to connect your phone to the Virgin Media Hub. Text back ‘Accept’ to agree or ‘CALLBACK’ if you want help." Then on 5th Oct at 9:15pm, got the exact same text again. Today, 20th Nov around 11:16am, they messaged saying they’ve sent the adaptor to connect the home phone to Virgin Media Hub and will remind me when it’s time to set it up.

Really made me uneasy - I got a call about switching my landline to fibre as well. When I hit accept for more info, an Asian woman rang me next day from 08001836408, which I later learned is probably dodgy and a scam number. She talked about the switch but then asked if I could give my Virgin cable password. That’s when I knew something was off. Why on earth would they need your Virgin password just to sort out an adaptor? I hung up straightaway!

The nature of the phone calls seems to be shifting. I received a barrage of calls from this particular number and eventually opted to follow up on it. They've scheduled a visit for me this coming Friday. I reckon they want to assess the issues that will arise with the impending transfer in January. If this visit turns out to serve some other purpose, I'll be quite displeased and will be sure to keep you posted.

Got a text earlier asking, "Have you been satisfied with your broadband’s reliability, coverage and speed in the past week? Please respond YES or NO." Fair play for the effort, although let’s be honest, hardly anyone’s ever fully happy with any of those things. But it’s a dead giveaway that it’s a scam. At least they spell properly and use punctuation right, which isn’t something you see in a lot of these dodgy messages - kinda makes them even more suspicious, if you ask me!

A rather infuriating situation with Virgin Media-it’s either a scam or sheer ineptitude on their part. I've received a rather irritating text message claiming the delivery of some equipment, then immediately demanding an upgrade. I got some texts claiming to be from Virgin Media saying they want to switch my landline to fibre and that I need to set up an adapter they’d send me. Thing is, I already have Virgin Media fibre. Plus, I received a couple of emails also supposedly from Virgin Media, but the sender’s email didn’t end with @virginmedia.com like their real ones do. I didn’t respond or send any ‘accept’ message as they asked. A quick Google search on the number showed it’s a scam. So, definitely report this number and don’t get involved with any texts or emails about this ‘upgrade’.

At first I figured it was a scam, but it turned out to be Virgin Media sending a text about switching my phone to a digital setup. They actually showed up when they said they would too.

They said they were Virgin Media but the number was a mobile one? That seemed really dodgy to me.

Got a dodgy text saying they were going to switch my service to fibre. My setup’s already fibre, so I knew straight away it was a scam. Plus, they didn’t even use my name, which felt pretty fishy from the start. The message told me to reply with “Accept”. I just ignored it and blocked the number.

Just got a message saying it was from Virgin. I didn't reply though, and had a look on their official site but couldn’t find any info about it. If it really was Virgin, surely they’d have my address to post the adapter or whatever? Seems dodgy to me.

Got a call from someone saying they were Virgin Media, trying to sell me some adaptor to switch my house phone over to fibre. Thing is, my place has been hooked up to fibre since they put Virgin Media in. Totally feels like a scam to me.

I replied to that message about the change over and now I’m proper worried after reading all these comments. Normally, I’m really cautious but this time it got me. Not sure what to do next, but I’ve blocked the number already - fingers crossed that stops it.

Got a text from this number claiming it was Virgin, saying my landline would be switched to Virgin Fibre in August. It sounded legit enough to respond, but I always double-check unknown numbers and turns out it’s a scam. Better not reply to it.

Got a text from Virgin Media saying I need a fibre adaptor for my phone. About thirty minutes earlier, I also got an email from them about the same thing, so I’m guessing the message is genuine.

Got a text from a number starting +447 today saying they're from Virgin Media, telling me Yodel will ring me to sort out new kit for switching to fibre optic home phone. Sounds dodgy to me, totally a scam. It’s not connected to Virgin Media at all. Nearest neighbour got the same message too. Watch out for these con artists!

Got a message supposedly from Virgin but the number was unfamiliar, so I’m not convinced it’s legit. Decided I won’t bother answering it.

I'm already connected to fibre, so this seems like a scam.

I got a text and I’m pretty sure it’s a total SCAM. No way I’m trusting that message.
