Got a call from a woman saying she was with the Bank of England, warning me about an overseas request to withdraw money from my account. She asked me to press 1 to confirm the payment or 2 to speak to someone about it. I ended the call and tried ringing back, but it wouldn’t go through. Seems pretty clear that the Bank of England wouldn’t bother with a tiny amount from a personal account, but I guess some folks might still get caught out by it.
