I received a call whilst commuting to work last Saturday, which was the first time I'd encountered this. She then asked, 'So, are you looking to terminate your contract?' I quickly clarified, 'I don’t have a contract; this is a Pay as You Go phone!' At that point, she let out a weary 'ah, okay' and hung up without even a farewell.

Received a call from someone claiming to be with the "3 Network Upgrade" at 19:00. We were trying to make sense of the connection between the mobile provider, 3, and this so-called "upgrade" they were promoting. The person on the other end was rather vague and seemed to be fumbling over their words, only managing to mumble a couple of letters before we decided it was best to end the conversation. They simply couldn’t provide a clear response to our questions. Quite baffling, really!

Who on earth was that caller? We received a phone call claiming she was from the upgrade department, insisting that we were due for an upgrade. The thing is, our upgrade isn't scheduled for ages! When I probed a bit further, she mentioned something about contacting head office. Very odd indeed!

I made it clear that I wasn't keen on that, particularly as I was travelling on the train and could only focus on the term "contract." The chap on the other end then asked if that meant we’d be cancelling our contract. Confused, I clarified that we’re actually on Pay As You Go, not bound by any contract at all. He seemed a bit flustered, hesitant with his words, and then abruptly hung up without so much as a farewell. It’s quite obvious this is a dodgy operation, possibly linked to some scandal involving the sale of mobile numbers, perhaps with a connection to a senior person at Hutchison 3G UK (H3G).
