I got a call from a number that looked almost the same as mine. When I picked up, there was some robotic voice saying my National Insurance number was being blocked because of suspicious activity. It told me to press 1, so I did. Then a man started talking, saying my NI number had been compromised and HMRC would get in touch. He said I needed to confirm my personal details. I asked him how, if he already had my NI number, he didn’t know my name. After that, he just ended the call.
