When I rang back from my home phone, it just went straight to some recorded voice with no info about who it was. I reckon if someone bothers to ring that often but can't be bothered to leave a message, they're probably up to no good, like a scam or something.

Got a call from someone claiming to be British Gas, but honestly, he sounded so out of it I thought he might be having a fit or something. He kept calling me Mrs Brown, which obviously I’m not. I joked back that I’d changed my gender 'cause I’m actually a bloke now. After that, he seemed to tell me to bugger off or something like that. Pretty funny though, definitely a scam in my opinion. Blocked him straight away.

Got a call from a guy with an Indian accent who knew my surname and address right off the bat, then wanted my first name. I told him if he’s got all that info, surely he already knows my first name? He then said he was calling from British Gas and asked if I was a customer and how I usually pay my bills. After that, he mentioned Octopus Energy would ring me to help save some money, but hung up before I could ask who exactly he was working for. So yeah, I’m definitely not picking up if Octopus Energy calls again.

Got a call from a number saved as Nikki James, but I had no clue who that was. As soon as I picked up, there was silence, then a lady with an Indian accent asked if she was speaking to me by name (which she actually got right). Even though I said I wasn't her, she kept going like she was reading from a script, talking about sending some PPI forms that I needed to sign and return straight away. I cut her off and asked why she was ringing me, and then she just hung up. I've blocked the number now. Don’t ever give out your name or any other info to calls like this.

Got a call from some guy with a thick Indian accent, couldn’t make out a word he said. I just went ahead and placed an order for a chicken jalfrezi, mushroom rice, chicken madras and a garlic naan. Then he started swearing at me and ended the call. Haven’t had any follow-up since.

But then he said he was from BCC and talked about a form that I’d have to sign and send back. As soon as I understood they weren’t from delivery, I ended the call. Got a call from a woman who said her name was Ruby and that she was ringing from British Gas. She wanted me to verify an old work address - a place I’ve never even set foot in! I instantly suspected it was a con and told her to jog on. It’s really worrying they're pretending to be British Gas to trick people like that!
