We then chatted about sending it as a parcel and they said they'd pay upfront by bank transfer and have the courier come collect in a couple of days. They promised to send payment before dispatch and I’d give the item to the courier once I’d got the money. They then sent a message that looked like a Gumtree pay/parcel confirmation with the last 4 digits of the card as 1284, telling me to confirm the address and payment. Then came a suspicious link: HTTPS://gumtree.send-z.cod/76792163735. It threw up alarm bells when it wouldn’t open and after reading Gumtree’s advice not to click on links, I realised it was a scam. Felt pretty daft for not being savvy about courier and payment methods since I’m used to just cash on delivery.
