I got a call off some bloke who called himself Tony, saying he was selling spots in a magazine that features trustworthy traders. He claimed they teamed up with the local crime prevention folks trying to stop dodgy traders from scamming older and vulnerable people nearby. He said it was all non-profit but then asked for £150 to get your name in the magazine and help with distribution. It’s a classic con, there’s no actual magazine, just a way for them to take your cash.

Some bloke rang me claiming his name was Steve and was trying to sell me advertising space in a mag for £400. His accent was a bit hard to catch - maybe Brummie, but I’m not quite certain. He sounded really friendly and quite chatty, so I assumed I knew him and rang him back. In the end, I told him I couldn’t afford anything right now and turned down the offer. Honestly, I still have no clue who he actually was.
