These individuals specialise in the collection of overdue debts. Shortly after we cancelled our gym membership due to an injury, they were on our case. Fitness 1st contracted them, and it seems they act as though they have no record of our cancellation whatsoever. They aren’t involved in vehicle repossession or anything like that, and honestly, their enthusiasm for recovering debts seems lacklustre at best. When we informed the representative that we didn't have our reference number, she simply said, “Oh well, we’ll just call again later.” Quite the display of professionalism, isn’t it?

Absolutely! I've had three distinct numbers ringing me as well. We've added them to our contacts, so whenever they call, we're immediately able to identify who's on the other end. The best move is to just ignore the call and let them ring out, as they never bother leaving a voicemail. A quick search of the number turns up results on this forum, and soon enough, you realise they're just a bunch of scammers. Easy peasy! 😄

These callers appear to be from a car debt collection agency, and it seems they may be using throwaway SIM cards to make their calls. Intimidation seems to be their signature approach. If you happen to pick up and they start speaking, ensure you don’t dish out any personal details since it’s them who are ringing you! Definitely steer clear of sharing account or card numbers! Their tactics-which include relentless ringing and silence-can border on harassment and are likely illegal! I recommend blocking these numbers on your phone immediately. Tell them to communicate via written correspondence instead (though I doubt they even have your address!).

We recently discovered that this call was from a debt recovery firm. After cancelling our son's car insurance, they claimed we now owe them £98.00. We informed them that we had already paid £230.00 upfront, and suggested they deduct the owed amount from what we had already settled. But no, they insisted on charging us an additional £98.00 on top of what we'd already paid. Just a heads-up - these folks are clearly trying to squeeze more money out of you, even when you think the debt is cleared!
