This number phoned me pretending to be from Microsoft, with an Indian accent on the other end. They told me my computer had been hacked, but I don’t even have one, so I figured it was a con right away. I played along just to drag the call out and then mentioned I’d be reporting them to the cops. She kept insisting they were genuine, but when I stood my ground and said I knew it was a scam and I didn’t own a computer, she got really mad, started shouting and swearing at me before hanging up.

I received a rather dubious phone call from this number, with someone claiming to be representing Microsoft. The caller, who had a distinct Indian accent, insisted that my computer had been hacked. The only trouble is, I don’t actually possess a computer! It was clearly a scam, so I decided to play along and keep them talking to bide my time. Eventually, I let slip that I’d be taking their details to the police. That only served to fuel her desperation as she attempted to persuade me of their legitimacy. However, when I reiterated that I knew it was a ruse and mentioned my lack of a computer, she completely lost her cool, resorting to some rather colourful language before hanging up on me.
