Got a call from some automated voice claiming to be from Visa and Mastercard fraud dept, saying they blocked an £840 transaction and wanted me to press 1 to sort it out. Sounded dodgy right away - the call came from a mobile, not a proper bank number. Plus, Visa and Mastercard are totally different companies so why would one team cover both? I figured the real bank would ring me directly, not send some robotic message. There’s no way any legit bank would use a generic automated message to say they’d stopped a payment. Pretty sure it was just a scam trying to grab my info.
