We've received a similar call recently regarding our Orange contract. Just to clarify, we ditched Orange back in 2006 and switched first to 3, and then settled with O2 (bought our iPhone directly from Apple, though Carphone Warehouse really messed things up on that front). I'm also registered with the Telephone Preference Service, so it’s quite frustrating. What a load of nonsense!

I recently had a rather perplexing experience with Carphone Warehouse regarding the renewal of our Orange contract. It's quite amusing, really, considering we've upgraded to an iPhone under O2, and yes - that was also procured from Carphone Warehouse! It makes one wonder whether they bother to verify information in their own records.
