Got a dodgy message pretending to be from my kid (I ain’t got any kids btw) saying "hey mum, my phone's dead, can you WhatsApp me on my mate’s phone please? Hurry, their phone's almost outta battery too!" The number they told me to contact was 07789 175547 but the text itself came from 07486 459655. Definitely a scam!

Got a text earlier today from this number saying it was my kid's phone, which apparently broke, and that they were using a mate's phone that was about to die, asking me to message them on WhatsApp. I called my child straight away - their phone’s working perfectly and they never sent any message like that. Ended up blocking the number right away.
